Who Highline is

A payments relationship, rather than a payments product.

Most businesses end up with their payments arranged by accident: a merchant account from one place, a terminal from another, a gateway that came with the website, and — when something needs paying for — a lender who has never seen any of it. Each piece works. Together they produce four relationships, four support numbers and four different versions of what happened last month.

Highline exists to arrange those pieces as one thing. The merchant account is set up on banking and processing relationships that suit how the business actually trades; the platform, the equipment and any financing sit on top of it; and what a business gets back is one deposit trail, one report and one number to call when something is wrong.

  • 01 Built around the business — The account, the equipment and the pricing program are configured around what the business actually does — which is worth more than a headline rate, and is the reason breadth behind the account matters.
  • 02 Set up for the room — Equipment is configured for the tickets, the tips and the pricing program before it goes live, rather than delivered in a box.
  • 03 Reviewed against your statement — What a business pays is read off its own numbers. No page on this site quotes a rate, because an honest one cannot be written without them.
  • 04 One place when it goes wrong — Processing, hardware and funding under one relationship means the support conversation does not begin by establishing whose problem it is.

What Highline Does

The network

What is behind an account.

45+ Banking relationships Breadth behind an account, so a setup can follow the business rather than one provider’s template.
20+ Supported currencies For merchants taking payment beyond the U.S.
Nationwide U.S. coverage Deployment and support across the country.
Multiple funding programs Equipment, capital, advance and term options.

Banking relationships and supported currencies are Highline network figures. Coverage and funding programs are stated qualitatively because no verified count exists for them, and one has not been invented to fill the space.

The approach

How Highline works, stated as constraints.

The one that matters

The setup is built around the business.

A payment arrangement is only as adaptable as what sits behind it. Highline works across 45+ banking relationships and more than twenty supported currencies, and that breadth is what lets an account be configured around a business — its category, its channels, its currency mix, the way its room actually runs — rather than around the one template a single provider happens to support. Every account is subject to underwriting and approval.

  • No rate card, on purpose What a business pays depends on its card mix, average ticket and channel split. A headline number that ignores all three is a marketing figure, so this site publishes none.
  • Terms in writing, before signing Processing, equipment and funding terms are set out in documents rather than described in a conversation. Anything that will not be written down is worth asking about.
  • Equipment chosen for the room The device follows the counter, the dining room or the forecourt — not the other way round. Existing hardware is checked before anything is replaced.
  • One relationship when it breaks Processing, hardware and funding in one place means support does not start by working out whose fault it is.
  • Add things when there is a reason Nobody has to take everything at once. Most businesses start with the thing that is causing trouble and add the rest later.
Working with Highline

What actually happens, in order.

No timings, because a sequence that depends on how quickly documents come back is not a schedule anybody should publish as one.

  1. A conversation

What the business does, how it takes money, and what is currently in the way.

  2. A statement review

Your existing processing statement, read properly. This is where a real comparison comes from, rather than from a headline rate.

  3. Underwriting

The application is reviewed, and what comes back is a decision together with the terms that go with it.

  4. Terms in writing

Processing, equipment and any financing, set out before anything is signed.

  5. Setup

Equipment configured for the tickets, the tips and the program, and staff shown it.

  6. Support

One relationship afterwards, for all of it.

No stage here is a guarantee of the next, and no timescale is implied. The merchant account, equipment financing and business funding are each subject to their own underwriting and approval.

Who Highline serves

Five environments, because their payments genuinely differ.

These are not market segments. They are five different answers to "where does the payment actually happen", and each one changes the equipment, the workflow and what is worth worrying about.

Three places taking the same payment.

A till, a shop floor and an online store. The setup exists so that all three land on one account rather than three — and so the busy hour has a second lane ready rather than a better single one.

  • The roomA queue, a fixed till, and an hour that has to move
  • The equipmentA smart terminal at the till, with a second lane ready
  • Worth knowingCard-present and keyed are priced differently, so your channel split matters

Support

What “supported” is supposed to mean.

  • One relationship, not four.

Support is the part of a payments arrangement nobody evaluates until it is the only part that matters — usually mid-shift, with a queue. Processing, hardware and funding in one place means the conversation does not begin by establishing whose problem it is, and does not end with three numbers to call in sequence.

  • Somebody who can see the account.

A support call is only useful if the person answering can see the batch, the terminal and the deposit trail. Anything else is a message-taking service.

  • Set up before it goes live.

Configuration for your tickets, your tipping and your pricing program happens before the device is on the counter — not after the first busy shift has found the gaps.

  • Disputes handled as a process.

A chargeback has a deadline and an evidence requirement. Treating it as a process rather than as an emergency is most of the outcome.

    • Deadlines tracked
    • Evidence assembled
    • Outcome recorded
  • Changes without starting over.

Adding a lane, a location or a channel should be a change to an account rather than a new application — which is the practical argument for having it all in one place.

Questions

About Highline, answered plainly.

Including the two questions an about page normally avoids: what Highline is not, and how to check any of this before committing to it.

Business Funding
What exactly does Highline do?

Highline sets up and supports the way a business takes money. That means the merchant account itself, the platform underneath it, the equipment on the counter and — where it applies — the funding that comes after: equipment financing, working capital, a merchant cash advance or term funding. Four things most businesses buy from four different places, arranged as one relationship.

Is Highline a bank?

No, and it does not lend its own money either. Highline sets up and supports the merchant account, the payment technology, the equipment and — where it applies — the funding, working across banking and processing relationships behind the scenes rather than being one of them.

What that means for a business is practical rather than structural: the setup can be built around how it actually trades instead of around one provider’s single template. It does not mean an approval. Every account is subject to underwriting, and no page on this site promises one.

What kinds of businesses does Highline work with?

Retail counters, restaurants, forecourts and convenience stores, salons and spas, and professional services that invoice rather than sell across a counter. Those five have pages of their own because their payment workflows genuinely differ. A business outside them is not a problem — it is a conversation about which of them it most resembles.

Do I have to take everything at once?

No, and most do not. Businesses usually start with the thing that is causing trouble — the rate, a decline, an invoice problem, a terminal that will not do what the room needs — and add the rest when there is a reason to. What one relationship buys is that adding the next thing is not a new relationship.

What does Highline not do?

It does not manufacture equipment, it does not lend its own money, and it does not publish a rate card. The first two are why partners and underwriters exist; the third is deliberate, because what a business pays depends on its card mix, its average ticket and its channel split, and a headline number that ignores all three is a marketing figure rather than a price.

How do I check any of this before committing?

Ask for it in writing, and read what arrives. Nothing on this site is an offer, no page here quotes a rate, and any real terms — processing, equipment or funding — are set out in documents before anything is signed. A conversation that will not put its terms in writing is answering a different question.
